11月3日，英国南安普顿大学物理与工程学院副院长Gilberto Brambilla教授应学院邀请，来我校作了题为“OPTICAL FIBRE SENSORS PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE”的学术讲座，学院张磊院长、吴海勇副院长以及国际交流处林晨晖老师、学院相关专业教师、联合培养研究生参加了讲座。
从光纤通信到光纤传感器，Gilberto教授介绍了南安普顿大学光电子研究中心的精彩工作，详细介绍了他们课题组的主要研究方向，分别涉及了点式、阵列式、分布式光纤传感器。师生们还就一些热门的科研话题和科研方法与Gilberto教授开展热烈讨论，Gilberto教授对师生提出的问题逐一答复讲解。
讲座结束后，Gilberto教授参观了学院的教学实验室和科研实验室，对我院的教学条件和科研条件给予了极大的肯定。他表示希望今后能与我校师生有更深入的学术交流和项目合作，并就学院与南安普顿大学开展合作办学、交换生项目等方面进行了深入交流。
Gilberto Brambilla 教授个人简介：
Gilberto Brambilla is a professor at the Optoelectronics Research Centre and, since 2016, co-Director and General Manager of the Future Photonics Hub. He has been Director of the Centre for Innovative Manufacturing in Photonics until 2015. He leads the research group on Optical Fibre Sensors and Devices, which counts a dozen researchers working on distributed sensing, marine sensing, detection systems, and femtosecond laser processing of optical fibres.
He obtained his MSc (Engineering) with honours from Politecnico di Milano (ltaly) in 1996 and his PhD degree in Optoelectronics from the University of Southampton in 2002. In 2007 he was awarded the Royal Society Research Fellowship, which was then extended in 2012.He has more than 400 publications in journals and international conferences, 40 plenary/keynote/invited talks, and 12 patents He is the general chair of the OPTICA 2023. Sensors conference and member of steering committee of OFS.
